Been dealing with this issue on a customer's new Vista Home Premium laptop today... All of a sudden it stopped finding wireless connections. Trying to start the WLAN auto config always got me an error, so I started checking the "dependancy" services for WLAN Auto Config. And the dependancies of those dependancies... Bottom line, I found a service that had a corrupt .dll associated.

Unhide the Administrator account in Vista |

Vista was giving me a hard time about uninstalling a program. Even though I had an "administrator" account logged in, it was still telling me I had to be an administrator to uninstall the particular program I was trying to uninstall.
If you boot to safe mode, you can log in as the Administrator, but the windows installer service isn't available in safe mode, therefore, I couldn't uninstall the program that was giving me grief. However, the option to log in normally as THE Administrator simply isn't available normally... *sigh* what to do....

Sometimes when Malware gets onto a computer the autoplay feature can stop working, and then needs to be repaired. Below are instructions on repairing the autoplay feature.

We use Google Talk a lot at TCG. It's not the most feature laden instant messenger out there, but it's simple, easy to use and compatible very simply with my BlackBerry, allowing us to stay in contact where ever I'm at. Does Yahoo and Microsoft have messengers that can be loaded on your BlackBerry, yes... but Google Talk is just nice and simple and it works great for us. If you already have a Gmail address, you already have the capability to use google talk, but you might not know it. Gtalk loads in the left column as part of your contact list. If any of your contacts have gmail and they happen to be logged in to their gmail account at the same time, you can click their contact name and chat in real time with them! That's great, but we actually don't use gmail a lot, therefore we're not logged into it very often. That's where Google talk comes in to play. You can simply go to http://www.google.com/talk and download the instant messenger right from there. Install it with a few clicks, log in with your gmail details and you're in! Now you can invite others and add others' Gtalk usernames just like any other instant messenger. It works great for us... simple, quick, light, mobile... maybe it will work for you.

Lions and Tigers and Conficker, OH MY! |

The Conficker worm has really been making the news the last couple days. At times it's been coined as the server-melting, internet crashing worm of all times... To be unleashed on of all days, April 1, 2009. What's happened so far? Exactly what the reverse engineering of the code of the worm has said it would do... not a lot.
You see, the reverse engineering of the worm's code revealed that the infection (specifically Conficker.C, the third variant of the worm) would change the way it communicates with it's "handlers" and other computers infected with Conficker.C. That's about it.
Has it been "phoning home"? Has it been looking for its new instructions? Does it have potentially drastic dramatic effects? Could Conficker do something unprecidented in the future? Potentially, Yes.
